E-bike sales grow to take 42% of revenue in Holland
AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – Bike sales dropped with double digit numbers in 2012, but e-bikes did well as their share of the Dutch market continued to rise. In 2012, 171,000 electric pedal assisted bicycles were sold in Holland, taking up 16% of all of the 1,039,000 new bikes that were bought. Market share wise e-bikes grew by 1.3%, but volume wise a slight drop was recorded as 2011 sales stood at 178,000.
Dutch manufacturer SPARTA continue to lead way in Europe
In terms of sales turnover e-bikes are now bigger compared to city bike sales which for decades was the most important segment of the Dutch market.
