London TimeOut beats the traffic on a Rotwild Q1+ electric MTB

London TimeOut: Katie’s Rotwild Q1+ electric mountain bike whizzed her from Borough High Street to Trafalgar Square in 16 min – compared to 55min on a bus! Pretty good even if we came 2nd place to an e-skateboard (very suspicious!). I know which one I’d rather commute on.

House of Commons debate adoption of EU e-bike regulations

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport (Claire Perry): I beg to move: I could not possibly comment on my hon. and gallant Friend’s girth, but I recently undertook a 25-mile charity bike ride, and I had my arse whipped—I think that is the phrase—by an 86-year-old who was assisted up the hills by the technology that we are discussing. I was terribly impressed. It is important that we should all look to buy these bikes in future.

Guardian reporter Peter Walker tries a SPARTA e-bike at our new London shop.

At first glance it looks like just another cycle shop, albeit a slightly posh west London one, stocking a mix of sturdy commuter machines, mountain bikes, small-wheeled folding ones, even a tandem. But a closer look reveals the boxy battery packs attached to frames or luggage racks. These are e-bikes, and proponents say they… Read more »

London Time Out electric bike review: “Like cycling with a Jetpack! “

TimeOut editor Simone Baird takes to London streets on an electric bike…  “For someone who is not a courier or even an enthusiastic cycling amateur, I felt incredibly snotty about reviewing this electric bike. After all, if you’re going to cycle, then cycle. An electric bike in London? For wimps scared of getting a motorbike…. Read more »

What are the benifits of replacing cars with e-bikes for short distance commuting?

Last year we surveyed 43’000 public and private sector workers. 9’445 (22%) live within 5 miles of their workplace and commute by car each day. If 22% of the UK working population commuted on an electric bike instead of a car it would save £11 billion and 3.8 MtCO2e per annum.  All would benefit from… Read more »

Britain’s leading transport commentator Christian Wolmar visits Justebikes London branch.

I have seen the future. Or have I? by Christial Wolmar. In 2012, I came across a wide variety of transport innovations and was, for the most part, pleasantly surprised. Normally, I am fairly cynical about wondrous new ideas and how they will reshape the world, and have been quick to dismiss them. However,… Read more »
